Before using Mortgage House, we tried another broker who made us feel like we weren’t important enough for him to bother dealing with properly, and we always felt like we weren’t getting the whole story. “Brilliant customer service”
Customer service was second to none. Truly amazing service by my home loan specialist Brijesh. He went on holiday in December and although his team dropped the ball a little, Brijesh bent over backwards to get my loan sorted including logging in and pushing for his team to make contact and follow up while he was overseas on holiday. Seriously an amazingly committed man that I can not thank enough.
I found the documentation requirements to be extremely over the top for loans that I was refinancing. I clearly was already able to finance the loans as they had been in place for 5 years, but I felt I had to jump through a lot of hoops.

“Always bargain, things work differently in the non-bank world.”
I started looking around back in late Aug 2015 when my bank happily independently raised my interest rate (and it happened twice since then). Pierre from Mortgage House was wonderful in answering all my questions and bent over backward to get the best rate for me (there was another company trying to get my business too you see). Communication can either be email or phone, but I communicate with them mainly via email and reply was generally fast before and after signing.
It took a while to sort out the documents, but delay was partly caused by my own HR department. But when I finally signed the document the settlement took just a few days to complete.
The surprise came 2 weeks after my new mortgage started, I was informed that my rate had been adjusted upward by 0.20%. I was shocked and expressed my grief to the company. I was told most lender has raised their rate and affirmed that my rate was still the best deal around. I did a bit of research and found that indeed 19 non-bank lenders did raise their rate between 0.15-0.20%. I raise my case with them saying that as a new customer I’m not happy with the rate and Pierre promptly put in a request to review my rate. And the final result, they adjusted the raise to 0.10% for my investment loan and drop my owner occupied loan rate by 0.10%. Now I can say that I’m happy and indeed got the best rate in town (about 0.80% lower than my previous loan), which save me thousands every year.
I like:
1) No ongoing fee (was paying $10×2 every month)
2) 10 years interest only on my investment property (some company only 5 years)
3) Pay only about $1000+ for all refinance expenses (will recover the cost in 2 months time)
4) 100% offset account
5) Cross collateral
It’s a pity:
1) No credit card
2) No cheque book

“A Positive Experience”
Like most Australians, the dream of owning a home is high on life’s priority list. For my wife and I, the differences between our prior experience and the current one could not have been greater.
Our prior home purchase was through a Mortgage Broker: a reasonable experience for those who are time poor, but after the initial mortgage was set up, we felt as though we were left on our own. A few communications soon dissolved into no communication. Sure, any questions we had would have been answered, but we both felt a little cold on the idea and so we chose to continue our financial journey solo.
The property was sold and we purchased our current home. In between times, we contacted Mortgage House, to be sure that we were ready when the right property turned up.
Our satisfaction levels from the previous broker dealings were average, so our expectation was low.
Our customer experience with Mortgage House began with a meeting with the CEO – Mr. Ken Sayer. Where in Sydney does one get to meet and deal with the CEO and owner of the company? This fact was the first in many positive surprises for us with Mortgage House.
Not only was Mr. Sayer’s interest rate exceptionally competitive, he spoke at length with us on a number of occasions to REALLY understand our situation and thinking. He is an intelligent man with acute listening skills and vast experience in finance. The tailored advice he provided to us ensured that we were set up for success, enabling us to purchase our property with ease!
The other astounding fact is that due to Mr. Sayer’s indefatigable work ethic, we were able to schedule meetings in his state-of-the-art North Sydney office almost anytime that suited our schedule. Nothing is a problem at Mortgage House.
Remarkable experiences in life rightly deserve the highest praise. We are both happy to share our story with others, so that they may also be uplifted by Mr. Sayer and the company that he has built.

“Great Choice we have made”
When I started to look for refinancing, one other non-bank was my choice but before I apply they increased the rate even when RBA wasn’t increasing it. Then I searched for other options and came across Mortgage House and their rate is the cheapest for both fixed and variable if you are planning to have split loan and I haven’t come across any other lenders for cheap on both products. The person I talked to first and til now is Jenny Huang. She deserves 10 stars and a big thank for taking through to the end with success. I asked all the questions (some are good and some are dummy questions) and always get a reply even on weekends. I think customer service is very important and she is excellent. I was a bit nervous whether or not to get a solicitor for us for the settlement but at the end we didn’t and just went with their solicitor. We had the settlement went through nicely and neatly. “How easy was that!”
I didn’t want to change home loan because of the loops banks make you jump through. I had previously contacted one of the “award winning lenders” and there service was shocking. No follow up, it was like it was a hassle for them. One morning I called Mortgage House and got Jenny Hung on the phone who just took the rains and made it so easy. We sent off an enquiry to Mortgage House, not really believing we would be at quite at the stage to be able to purchase our home. “Mortgage House Bellarine has great customer service!”
This is the second time I have used Mortgage House Bellarine and the customer service has been great once again. The first time was to refinance an existing loan and the second time has been to build a new house. Lyndon has guided me through the loan process from start to finish and has helped me understand everything I need to know. Being interstate hasn’t made things any more difficult as Lyndon communicates well through email and phone.

“Greatest friend a first home buyer can have!!”
What can I say about Ken Sayer and his amazing team at Mortgage House that will do them justice for everything they have done for us? Things like life coach, finance coach, friend – I don’t know what else I can really say to express the gratitude that my partner and I have for Ken and the Mortgage House team.
This was our first home and we were also a young family, which seemed like banks did not want to help or deal with us due to our situation. But Ken Sayer and the team at Mortgage House were an exception! Ken went out of his way to make us feel welcome and safe guiding us through the big new world of our first home loan. My partner Lesley and I are both 28 and were not use to meeting or talking to anyone at a CEO level before. Ken was amazing, he genuinely cared about us and our young family.
We were no longer just a number like most banks saw us, he is someone we can call a friend and family member. Ken and Mortgage House went out of their way to assist us in getting the best deal for our house and land package and ensured it suited us and not the builder. Ken was always there whenever we needed or had a question about any part of the purchase and building of our home.
Through this whole process he has always been there for us at anytime and has looked after us with everything. The experience with Mortgage House has been amazing. I do not know how much more I can say about Ken and Mortgage House, but if you go with anyone else but Ken Sayer and Mortgage House you really need to re-think what you’re doing and go back to Mortgage House because they are the best!

“Easy refinance”
I was looking to refinance a mortgage, having been very disappointed with my existing lender. I decided to give Mortgage House a try as their products looked very attractive in relation to most others on the market, especially with the 100% offset account combined with the competitive interest rates.
I have been very cautious through this process – concerned by some of the negative reviews on this site, but having now completed the process, I must say my experience has been consistently very positive.
I have had many discussions over the phone and in person with the agent (Norman Rubenstein, South Yarra) who has handled my mortgage application – he has been extremely helpful, prompt, courteous and friendly at all times. Equally, the customer service manager at Mortgage House was very knowledgable and patient when I contacted him with a large list of questions regarding the finer points of the offset account. I have compared many products out there and I think that Mortgage House offers an excellent product that is, in my experience, backed up by outstanding customer service. I would encourage anyone who is considering a new mortgage to give them a call.
“Seamless Refinance in an Extraordinarily Short Time”
We cannot speak more highly regarding the positive experience and wonderful outcomes we have had since we were introduced to Mr Ken Sayer and Mortgage House just three months ago. Our restructuring has included both our home mortgages and some business refinancing. Throughout Mr Sayer has displayed a degree of lateral thinking and business acumen we have rarely seen in the business and financial services sector. This was particularly important to us having regard to the current financial climate and the natural reservations demonstrated by the traditional banks in the current climate. Thanks to Mr Sayer and the Mortgage House team our outcome was clear and precise and achieved within a very short time. The traditional bankers we had previously dealt with, unlike Mr Sayer, were unable to grasp the concepts and see the lending opportunity we provided as clients. Mr Sayer demonstrated an instant understanding of our business model and also took time to painstakingly go through the details of our needs with us to ensure nothing had been overlooked.
The entire restructuring was achieved in an extraordinarily short time and seamlessly. Our previous experience with banks had been many hours of meetings, documentation and form filling, frustrations at the different levels and sections of the bank processing and then after months of such proceedings not achieving a satisfactory outcome.
In addition, and most importantly, Ken provided practical advice throughout and became a personal business mentor at the highest of levels throughout the financing. He frequently assisted us to stay focused and positive in relation to the desired outcome and also helped us handle some delicate decision processes showing an extraordinary degree of principle and problem solving ability.
Both Ken and his staff at Mortgage House, and at all levels of the company, were always attentive, professional, flexible, on call and available, and frequently provided out of hours support. I was referred to Mortgage House by a friend of mine who has a good relationship with their mortgage broker from Mortgage House. I was in the process of bidding for a property but wanted to secure funds before making an offer so I decided to take my friend’s recommendation and meet with a broker. I was supposed to meet with my friends broker however he was away on leave at the time and I needed to urgently meet on a Saturday. Due to the short notice in my request for a meeting, I ended up dealing directly with Mortgage House founder and CEO Ken Sayer. Ken immediately took the pressure off and acted like a finance coach rather than a broker keen to sign the dotted line. This is very beneficial because it takes all the emotion out of buying property and allows us to focus on what matters and make decisions objectively with all the facts on the table.

I wanted to send my sincere thank you to everyone at the Mortgage house team. My wife and I had considered entering the investment property market, however knew very little about what was involved. I had been recommended to speak with Ken Sayer from Mortgage House by a personal friend. I organised a meeting with Ken where everything was explained to me at length. Ken, in the simplest terms explained what to look for in a property, how I should negotiate the process without emotion and then went on to explain not just how to enter the investment market but how to create wealth in general. This covered our family home, our spending habits, credit cards and the list went on. Ken sent us on our way with a lot to think about and encouraged us to begin looking for an investment.
We eagerly went on our way and found a property that delivered 2 incomes. However the 2nd dwelling had some work to do before it could be rented. Again, Ken and his team were there to advise on my best course of action. As it worked out 1 week after settlement we had rented both dwellings and were not out of pocket one cent.
Throughout the process we did encounter hurdles, one as severe as a mark on my wife’s credit file that threatened our entire application; however again, Ken was able to offer solutions to overcome the situation. A short term loan was organised as an interim measure which was later refinanced. The end result was a product from Mortgage House delivering one of the best rates I have seen in the market. From start to finish I felt reassured that everything would work out fine and it did.
Now, 18 months on both my wife and I are considering doing it all over again and would do it with none other than Ken Sayer & Mortgage House.
